Ok...Ipad?
Yes, another Steve Jobs product has been released, the iPad. Even if it's iToiletPaper, since it's from Apple it's awesome. Don't get me wrong, it is an awesome product. It is extremely easy to use, and can easily be taken with you. It slides perfectly in your backpack, and has a scratch-proof screen (same as iPhone). I've had my iPhone for a year now, and have never had a case, yet there are still no scratches on it! The biggest disappointment for me is that there is no stylus for it. I would crave one, if I could take notes on it! But using a touch screen keyboard just isn't natural for me. The iPad is said just to be a large iPhone. I already have one, and love it! It is not designed to replace your laptop, instead it's an easy to use device you can pull out when you feel like lounging on the couch.Submitted 2010-04-06 21:44:39
Yes, I Want an Update
I'm thankful for everything I have. I nice apartment, and good people in my life. I don't care about a new car, I like what I have. But I am working extremely hard for this. I am giving SIU a ton of money. Saluki Way is continuing as scheduled with no slowdown even though we are borrowing money like there is no tomorrow. Our athletic director at SIU makes 768,000 a year. What does this accomplish for us? We've had a horrible athletic year, and why am I paying this guy this much? Our government should be scared of us, not vice versa. We cannot just lay back and accept what we have. Why does no one take a stand for anything anymore? You DO NOT have to accept what is here, if you do not like it, change it!Submitted 2010-04-06 21:24:27
The Enjoyable Parts of Programming
Programming is awesome. I remember as a kid I was so interested in reading these BASIC books we had laying around the house. Making the Commodore 64 do what I tell it to was something to see. I think I did envision it as my future. Today, all modern programming languages are object oriented. The inheritance, polymorphism, and overloading of objects and operators is what makes it interesting, and easier. You can have an object as complex or simple as you like. Working with that object is incredibly easy, calling the methods and properties you created. The whole concept of classes in OOP scared me at first. Now, it actually makes programming easier, and you can reference phyical (or virtual) items in a variable! Even PHP 5 now supports object oriented programming. I don't think it has taken off yet as much as it should from the examples I've seen on the web.Submitted 2010-03-04 22:32:12
College is a Test
I think I have it figured it out. SIU, and probably many colleges, will be the biggest test of your life. You will be told that you're stupid. You will be told that you can't do that. You opinions and ideas will be discarded. But, they are not lost. As I'm closing in down at my career here, it has tested more than just my academics. It's tested my thrust. It's tested my emotions. It's tested me on getting past my inhibitions. College absolutely is not based on the technical skills you need for your employer. I am tired of being poor, driving a horrible car, and being hungry. I have been angry about this. But, I realize it is part of the test. I will pass the test, no matter what I am told. You will have haters. I don't go town to their level. I feel I have worked to hard for this, and I now am satisfied with knowing this. I want to know what's in people's minds. This is why I cannot just let some things go. You know who you are. I feel like I need closure. I will be having closure when I walk up and grip that diploma.Submitted 2010-02-09 17:22:39
All Custom
Although limited at its writing, this entire website was written by me, for only me. The simple PHP is talking to a MySQL database on the backend. I used to have Wordpress, but decided not to put it back on. The problem is that I do not feel like learning the time to figure out how Wordpress is coded. When I code it, it's fitted for me and I can easily customize it without spending hours or days researching. I don't know if it's common in the coding industry, but I love to just dive in and start coding. Although it has to be done and I always do end up finishing it, the research and setup of a server is not a process I'm fond on. But diving in and coding and setting up databases is exciting to me, I look forward to it. I cannot wait to expand this even more. I've made dozens of websites in the past, but they have all been highly customized or have disappeared. I want something to show my skills, even for how little it is viewed. So I'm looking for ideas, where should I put my time in at?Submitted 2010-02-08 22:26:39
A Reserved Society
Society as I feel it, is too reserved. People today will often notice something wrong and even dangerous, but they will fail to mention it because they want to fit in, and not do something that hasn't already been done. Could this be why we don't have any new inventions in the past few decades? We do have new technology, but it almost always has branched off a previous design. Is this proof that society has changed? If we're uncertain, we simply do not talk. I used to be like this, but I have been changing in the last few years. I speak up. I am rejected at times. But others are too afraid to tell me their opinion on the subject and provide no support. Shame on you. I'd like to see where we are in the next 20 years.Submitted 2010-02-06 15:52:15
The New Blogosphere
I want to start taking advantage of wide screen monitors. I have been guilty of it myself in the past, but I am now going to start designing all of my new websites so the width is variable (floating).Submitted 2010-02-06 12:01:27
